There are times when it is necessary to completely remodel the kitchen, in others it is only necessary to change certain elements such as cover plates or cabinets. Now, there will be times where the only thing that will be necessary is to repair the furniture that you already have, this will be possible as long as they are not very worn. While on other occasions it will be best to replace it completely.

Kitchen Cabinet Overview

You will be surprised when we tell you that the cabinets are amazingly durable, of course, this can vary according to the material that has been chosen for its construction. There’s really no reason why they shouldn’t be permanent items.

However, if you have seen that your kitchen furniture requires a change, either due to wear or simply tired of the same, do not hesitate and consider doing such a remodel. By the way, see if there are other elements in your kitchen that require changes, such as appliances or accessories.

The taps, refrigerated, blender, coffee maker, these are usually items that need to be changed more frequently. Of course, it will depend on the quality of what has been purchased and how it is used. There are also marble floors, elements that are really durable, resistant, and that are easy to maintain in good condition, another accessory that you will have to change.

The reason to analyze if it is necessary to make any other change within your kitchen is that the cabinets, being elements with a long lifetime, must have the ability to match the rest of the kitchen, even if the rest of the accessories undergo changes or renovations, or new refrigerator purchases or kitchen cover changes, cabinets can still make a good combination.

If you decide to place some classic furniture it can be a guarantee, since most likely they can match the rest of the kitchen despite the changes that may exist.

If you have bought a home the cabinets may not be in the best condition, you may not even know how old it is in operation. Either way. Although the number of years they have can influence their good or bad condition, this is not always the case, nor do all the materials have the same quality, and therefore not all of them last the same time.

Since it is not possible to completely trust the years of the life of the cabinets, there will be other factors to take into account when deciding if it is time to replace them, these are different types of damage to which they are exposed. One of them is water, it is normal that spilled liquids tend to generate dark stains, even the doors do not close well because the wood will tend to swell due to humidity.

This is common since most of these elements are made of wood, which with use will tend to wear down. This can be aggravated if for some reason there is a water leak and if it is not detected in time it may end up irreparably damaging the cabinets. As every piece of furniture has to be taken care of as far as possible, this also applies to the tops, so it is recommended to place plates for natural stone covers, such as marble or granite.

Cabinets will be seriously damaged when moldy, drawers, and doors may not close properly, warp, wood may take on different shades. If you see any of these aspects, then you will be in front of a signal, you will know that you will have to change completely.

On the other hand, it is possible that aesthetically this well, that they do not have damage by water or any other liquid, however, their functionality is no longer the same. For example, they may have to make awkward movements to get what they need.

Perhaps its doors are wrongly placed and it is not possible to open one without hindering the door that is next. Drawers may also jam or fall each time they are opened. In these cases, fixing what is no longer usually a viable option, as in many cases this will only bring more expenses.

When your cabinets are moldy and in poor condition, it is a sign that they need to be replaced. It is seldom possible to remove this from the root. It happens that if mold is not replaced it will continue to damage your kitchen, and the health of your family will also suffer the consequences.

Before making all the changes make sure you know where the water leak is coming from that is causing this situation. Yes, the mold on the furniture is a sign that there is a leak, it may be small, but if it is not fixed it will continue to cause problems.

On the other hand, there is also the possibility of having termites, this can be very invasive and completely destroy your furniture. When this happens you have to replace them, but you also have to fumigate and kill the termites, otherwise, the new cabinets will have the same end. What you least want is having to spend again to install new cabinets.

Now you know when you should change your cabinets, and when you are in that process do not forget to check the rest of the kitchen, you may also need a change to cover plates, taps, or other accessories.
