Choosing a vibrator can be a very overwhelming experience at first. There are so many to choose from, and each has a different shape, size, texture, and function that promise to bring you to a mind-blowing orgasm.

Well, slow down and take a deep breath. Vibrators have been around for quite some time. They aren’t going anywhere and as you are reading this, some carnally creative genius is probably developing a new one. So, take your time to make a careful decision as to which vibrator is right for you. We promise once you’ve finished reading through some quick pointers on how to pick your vibrator; there will still be plenty to go around!

1. Size — First things first, look out for the proper size. Pay close attention to the dimension descriptions of vibrators before purchasing one online, because you don’t want something too big or too small. If you don’t know what is right for you, try measuring your honey’s member; or if that doesn’t work, try one of these tests:

  • With a cucumber — Peel it and play with it, moving it around inside of you to determine if the girth is fine. The cool wet feeling of the cucumber will feel so great that you might forget that this work is being done for some very important research. Keep shaving your cucumber down until you get to the right thickness and don’t forget to mark with your fingernail the length that feels best inside.
  • Digital probing — With your fingers, slowly stick one, two or whatever amount feels good inside you. Remove the fingers and hold them up in the position that they were thrusting inside of you. Form a ring around the fingers and measure the diameter of that ring to find out the thickness that fills you best.

2. Electric or Battery-Powered — Decide whether you want the convenience of portability with your vibrator or if you wouldn’t mind plugging it into the wall. Remember, each type has its pros and cons, so research diligently before making the big buy.

3. StyleVibrators come in a variety of styles. You can buy a simple baton-shaped vibrating toy or go all out with a colorful multifunction vibrator with a clitoral, anal and vaginal stimulator. Oh, the choices!

4. Controls — Decide how you want to operate your vibrator. Vibrators today come with simple to very complex controls

  • Simple on/off switch — good for beginners, not so great if you need variable speeds.
  • Multiple Speed Controller — Similar to your blow dryer with hi and low, hot and cold buttons, these vibrators give you a few options as to how fast you want to be pulsated to climax.
  • Handheld controller — Allows you to stimulate yourself with one hand and control the action with a controller. A partner sitting beside you can also get in on the fun with this one.
  • Remote Controller — Usually small enough to be worn under clothing. These discreet little devices can be controlled by you or your partner when you are across the room or out in public. Imagine sending your lover into ecstasy without anyone around knowing but the two of you. Makes for great foreplay.
  • Electronic Plug-in — Now you might be limited by the cord, but before you ditch this option, remember that these babies offer a much stronger vibe than their battery-operated siblings. You can’t get the amount of power from a battery that you get from high voltage sockets in your wall. These vibrators are also larger and are the ones that are played off as body massagers.

5. Location — Think about where you are going to be using your vibrator. Do you live alone, or are there children or a roommate around? These factors might determine which type of vibrator you want to buy because some materials make more noise than others. But if you really want that plastic noisemaker vibrator, you can always put a towel over it to dull out the sound.

So, now you are armed and ready with the knowledge to make an informed choice. Go forth and purchase the best vibrator that your money can buy!
