How to find out the MMR or Elo Ranking In League of Legends
First of all, if we play for the first time in the season, we will have to complete ten qualifying games. If we look closely, we will get a provisional rank after playing the first game. This range serves as a starting point for our ranking.
Since then, the rest of the ten games will serve to add LPs. There is no penalty for losses and we will be able to move up in the division or league without having to complete promotion series. Later, we will explain all this in detail. The result of these ten games will serve to place us in an official position, close to our current level of ability.
The game uses three factors to determine this official position:
- The number of wins in the ten qualifying games.
- The level of the opponents we have faced.
- The performance during the pre-season or previous season.
All of this information is put together to create a value called MMR. It comes from the English Matchmaking Rating, which literally means matchmaking rating. It is a hidden value, similar to what we previously knew as Elo. For those who remember it, the Elo gave us our exact position in the classification, but the ups and downs used to be very big.
The MMR is essential data to create fair games for all players, with allies and enemies of levels similar to ours. To better understand what MMR is, this value is not the same as your current position. If you have very low MMR or simply Elo, then you can use League of Legends boosting services to improve it. There are plenty of people using such services to play this game even more effectively and having fun.
You can be Silver II with an MMR equivalent to Gold III. It depends a lot on the number of wins and losses, in addition to the overall performance you’ve shown. This will result in games where you possibly play with and against players who are in the Gold league because they will be at your actual skill level.
It can also happen just the opposite, that your MMR is less than your current position. If that happens to you, you will notice that, compared to other players, it will be more difficult for you to ascend. The number of LPs won and lost will vary greatly. And how does all this work? We clarify in the next section!
Find out what LPs are and how to move up the league
League of Legends Teemo LP
After completing the ten qualifying games, with each victory we earn LPs (from English League Points, that is, league points). Of course, that means we lose LPs with every loss! Contrary to what happens with the MMR, LPs are a visible number for all players.
The amount of points we earn or lose depends directly on our MMR. In other words, if our MMR is too high, relative to our current position, we will be able to win more LPs per win and lose less for each loss. Otherwise, we will win very few LPs and lose many more.
Once we have 100 LPs, we will enter the promotion series, which gives us the opportunity to move up in the league or division. To go up in the league, you need to win three out of five games in total, while to go up in the division you only have to win two out of three.
We must take into account the requirements for these series: if we are in Platinum, we will have 28 days to complete our series. In the case of the Master and higher leagues, the term is only 5 days. In other words, we must complete the series before the deadline ends, or we will lose a certain number of LPs.
If we give up on the champion team during a promotion series, it will count as a loss.
Be careful not to lose score!
In League of Legends, there are two words that are terrifying to players: relegation and inactivity. These are the two ways we can fall apart and it’s easy to understand how it happens.
The descent happens when we reach 0 LPs and we lose games. This causes us to fall to the next division, such as from Gold II to Gold III. If we continue to lose games after reaching division IV, we will fall from the league, that is, from Gold IV to Silver I.
The inactivity is when we are a long time without playing, but only affects players who are between the leagues Platinum to Retador. If we are Platinum or Diamond, we will lose LPs after 28 days without playing ranked. Once a week, Platinum players will lose 35 LPs, while Diamond players will lose 50 LPs.
For players at Maestro or above, they will begin to lose LPs with just 10 days of inactivity. Not only that; They will lose 100 LPs every day until they play again. To understand it better, there are specific rules for the top three leagues:
Each qualifying game we play in those leagues will be stored in what we call the immunity bank, up to a maximum of ten games.
Every day, a game is withdrawn from this imaginary bank.
If we continue without playing for ten days, our bank will stay at 0, and, therefore, we will begin to lose 100 LPs per day until we play again.
