The Cannabidiol commonly called CBD is only the scientific name we gave to the molecule, it is a cannabinoid found in cannabis or hemp since it is the same plant. But all the “light cannabis” type designations and all the prejudices that weigh on the use of natural extracts of this plant invite us to recall the different ways of consuming CBD and compare them so that you find the one that suits you. The use of CBD is not exclusively reserved for smokers/vapers.

Our body has an endocannabinoid system that regulates essential biological functions such as sleep, appetite, the pain system, mood. Taking CBD activates the CB1 and CB2 receptors, which are themselves connected to the central nervous system. They essentially found CBD today in France as flower CBD, e-liquid CBD of concentrated oil CBD, crystals of pure CBD balms and capsules.

New innovative modes of administration should emerge in the coming years as there are many scientific researches and applications of CBD (ex: energy drinks, CBD suppositories, CBD patch, CBD aerosol), despite everything, here is a guide to which will allow you to make the right choice between the main ways to use CBD today.

What are the different ways to take CBD?

CBD sublingual administration

The drops of CBD oil should be placed under the tongue for 30 to 90 seconds before being swallowed, thus allowing the active compounds of Cannabidiol (CBD) to be absorbed by the oral mucous membranes.

The advantage of this mode of administration is that CBD bypasses digestive absorption and metabolism by the liver, allowing the active ingredients of CBD to reach the blood system and interact with the endocannabinoid system much more quickly. and more effectively than the conventional oral route.

The first effects are felt 5 to 20 minutes after taking sublingual CBD.

The other advantages of taking CBD through sublingual are ease of use and accuracy of the CBD assay using the dropper. We can easily determine the precise amount of CBD contained in a drop of CBD oil if we know the concentration of CBD in the bottle: CBD oils, for the same volume, offer different concentrations, from 1 to 30% on average. It is a method adapted to so-called therapeutic cannabis in countries that have chosen to legalize the medical use of cannabis, mainly because this method presents no risk linked to combustion and combines rapidity and effectiveness of the effects.

To determine your optimal CBD dosage, we advise you to have a gradual approach as each person reacts differently to cannabinoids. You can follow our advice for choosing the right dosage and also use a CBD dosage calculator to find out your theoretical daily CBD dose based on your weight, age, medical condition, etc.

The taste of CBD oil can vary, dark and even black oils ( raw CBD oils in general) have a bitter and earthy taste while amber oils have complex aromas of terpenes obtained by purification more oil push. (we talk about decarboxylation ).

The sublingual route is the method of administration recommended by doctors and frequently prescribed in countries where CBD and Cannabis are distributed and medically supervised. Epidiolex, for example, developed by GW Pharmaceuticals, against severe forms of epilepsy, is, in fact, a high-concentration CBD oil. The sublingual route allows rapid effects associated with optimal absorption of the active components of CBD by the body for high bioavailability while presenting no risk associated with taking.

Oral CBD

CBD products are available in capsule form as well. So, they can be taken directly and consumed through our digestion. In this process, the liver metabolizes CBD extracts, and then send its active components into our blood system, it triggers the activation of endocannabinoid receptors. However, the liver will filter the CBD ingested and release only 20% in the body, in short, when you ingest a 10 mg capsule of CBD, only 2 mg will actually be absorbed by your body.

With an oral intake, the effects of CBD are felt 30 to 60 minutes after taking but last longer than other modes. (up to 6 hours ).

This method of administration is the same as most other conventional dietary supplements or vitamins on the market. It allows precise dosing of the dose of CBD ingested. Choose the right dosage. There are several products in the CBD administered orally as conventional capsules at CBD, the gel capsules containing oil of CBD but also edible as chewing gum or candy CBD and even coffee, tea.

CBD vaporizer

Using a vaporizer, the flower sample placed in the ‘bowl’ will be heated to the desired temperature but not above 230 degrees Celsius. This is the whole principle of vaporization, heating the flower just below its combustion point, thus, all the elements (cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids) are removed intact, without harmfulness resulting from combustion. Vaporization also applies to concentrates such as CBD crystals, but there will be no entourage effect.

These are the most common ways that people take CBD. There are even more, however, these are most suggestible. If you find this information helpful, make sure to leave your comments below.
